Edge On The Edge?

So it was Edge leaving  the black roses last week after taking out key memebers of his entourage. Edge is coming apart at the seams due to the Hell In A Cell match Vicki put him in with the Undertaker.  By far the most exciting match up last week on Smackdown was Jeff Hardy and Shelton Benjamin. The most impressive display was Valdimir Koslov. He came out and demand better competition. That’s hardcore! So on to my Summer Slam predictions for this Sunday. It’s hard to predict Summer Slam, but I think I’m going to go with Undertaker over Edge, Jeff Hardy over MVP, Triple H over The Great Khali, and Batista over Cena with a heel turn bonus on that one, but we’ll see. I’ll let you know if I got it right on Monday or not.

Yawn

Smackdown was pretty dull this week. The one great match was Shelton Benjamin VS. Jeff Hardy, and that was exceptional match! Jeff Hardy may have broken his neck and I wouldn’t be surprised after two Swanton Bombs. I’m sure after Summer Slam things will get shaken up again.

Prediction Analysis

I made several predictions for Summer Slam in my Edge On The Edge post. Now that Summer Slam is over here are the results.

Jeff Hardy VS. MVP - Wrong

Triple H VS. The Great Khali - Right

Cena VS. Batista - Right

Edge VS. Undertaker - Right

So there you go not bad. Now everything will change and get set up for the next Pay Per View which, I think, is Unforgiven.

Smackdown Slump

I am not pleased with the replacement of Mick Foley by Tazz.  I hear  Mick Foley left because he didn’t like Vince McMahon talking into his headset all the time while he was calling matches. Oh well, I guess that’s how it’ll have to be from now on. The only good match this week was, again Shelton Benjamin, but this time with Fit Finlay. That was sepctacular. Everything else was mostly ho hum. They have Freddie Prinze Jr. on the writing team now, so I’m sure things will improve once they get some storylines going like the return of the Undertaker.

Breaking The 4th Wall

Smackdown this week was dedicated to Killer Kowalski who passed away recently. Triple H came out first and I thought he was going to say a few words about Kowalski seeing as how Kowalski trained Triple H, but instead he did something much more interesting. Triple H started breaking the 4th wall and seemily braking the Kayfabe, but I’m sure the whole thing was scripted and so it was actually part of the Kayfabe. That’s about all I can say was interesting for Smackdown except that Triple H was awesome and Jeff Hardy was awesome as usual.  I was crestfallen to learn that Team 3D was leaving TNA and returning to the WWE as The Dudleys. I thought they had burned that bridge, but apparently not. However, the day after I learned that shocking news I found out they had supposedly resigned with TNA and TNA shot the signing as a a Promo for Impact. I don’t know which of the stories is true. So until I find out different I’m just going to assume they’re sticking with TNA which would be infinitely more awesome than a return to WWE. Also, I found out about an awesome wrestling web comic called Rival Angels. It looks pretty sick. I haven’t been reading it too long. It’s about a female wrestlers and the drawing is great.

Why Koslov Why?

Vladimir Koslov had a brilliant showing in a handicap match against Funaki and Scotty Goldman. Then, of course, after breaking them down quickly he demanded better competition as usual. However, I did not like his actions after the fatal four way main event when he came out and beat on an already battered Jeff Hardy. I understand he wants better competition and beat down Hardy as a way of saying that Hardy is the challenge he’s looking for setting it up for a Koslov VS. Hardy match next week most likely, but this is not in Koslov’s character. It would have been much better had he just opened Smackdown next week with a vocal challenge to Hardy, which I’m sure Jeff would have happily accepted. I hope this is not the beginning of a heel turn for Koslov. I mean as far as I see Koslov now he’s a neutral character and I don’t want that to change.

The Fatal Four Way was a great match and I’m glad that Hardy won it setting him up ans the number one contender to take Triple H’s belt at No Mercy. It’s entirely possibly for Hard to become champion too. I can totally see that.

It was hilarious watching Triple H getting into the heads of the participants in the Fatal Four Way. They don’t call him The Cerebral Assassin for nothing!

In other news I think it awesome that when Smackdown moves to My Network TV in October that they will be playing Wrestlemania 25 on regular TV on October 2nd at 8 P.M. I’m definitely going to watch that.

Along those same lines I hear they might make WWE 24/7 On Demand a free Network channel and possibly take RAW off of USA if USA doesn’t want RAW anymore or if they don’t renew their contract. I can tell you that if this comes to pass it will be the sickest thing ever, period, in the history of mankind! It will also be very dangerous for me. I work at home and will have to exercise an untold amount of self control not to watch WWE24/7…well…24/7.

A Turn For The Worse

Koslov has done a heel turn for sure. It looked like it was going that way and it has. I don’t like it, but at least I can look forward to an eventual face tun by Koslov in the future. Jeff Hardy and Triple H had the best matches on Smackdown again this week. What a surprise. I do like the idea of Carlito tagging with his brother Primo and becoming champs. I’m looking forward to that next week. Carlitos new pants are cool too. I hope they become part of his new in ring gear. So anyway, next week I’ll be looking forward to Carlito and Primo wrestling  Curt Hawkings and Zach Ryder for the tag belts. I doubt they’ll turn they belts over, but they might. I’ll also be looking forward to Koslov VS. The Great Khali. I can’t stand The Great Khali so I hope Koslov beats him. On another note. The new two disc DVD set for Mr. Perfect Curt Henning looks awesome. I’m going to Netflix them. If you’ve never seen Mr. Perfect before you should definitely check that set out. He was one of the best.
