Cromartie High School On Anime Vice

I don’t usually read Anime Vice, but I do listen to their podcast, but I was sitting in the hospital yesterday flipping through Google Reader and I saw their post Anime That Doesn’t Suck: Cromartie High School. No truer words have ever been spoken! I think I talked about Cromartie a long time ago. Anyway what can you say about a cartoon about a High School full of tough guys, Freddie Mercury, a Gorilla, and a robot except totally awesome!!! Go read the Anime Vice post and then go watch Cromartie. You won’t regret it!

Three Awesome Animations

Here’s three awesome animations I’ve seen lately on some of my favorite blogs and I thought I would pass the awesomeness on to you Atomsplitters! The first one is a CGI called Nature By Numbers. It’s about the unseen math in nature. The next one is a claymation called Evil Dead In 60 Seconds. If you’ve never seen Evil Dead now it’ll only take you a minute to watch it, although I think  one is really for people who have already seen Evil Dead though because Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2, and Army Of darkness are all classic films and if you haven’t seen them then what are you waiting for? The last one is a cross stitch animation. What!?!? Yeah you heard me right, it’s called Maggie & Mildred, and it’s an animation made from cross stitched pieces scanned into the computer and then animated. How sweet is that!?

Spider Woman Motion Comic

I’m really digging the new Spider Woman, Agent of S.W.O.R.D  motion comics. I got an iTunes “you might also be interested” alert for a few weeks ago and went ahead and purchased the Season subscription. So each episode gets downloaded to my iTunes when it’s ready.  The art is awesome and it works very well with the After Effects layered style animation. The voice over is great too. As are the sound FX.

I tried those B&W Batman motion comics a while back and they were good, but way too short. This Spider Woman series is a great 10-22 minute length per episode.  I like to watch them on my iPhone while at the gym doing cardio on the bike or treadmill. -DJD

You can find the motion comic on iTunes here.

Atomsplit “Rawkequette” Animated Webcomic

Happy Friday!
We’re pleased to present the animated version of our first new Atomsplit webcomic story line.

Atomsplit Scene #8

This scene comes in later in the series after the Atomsplit songs get so popular lots of people start covering them and spreading them around. This is one of the bands that cover one of the Atomsplit songs. If you look at the bass player you might see something familiar about him. Here’s two hints to get you started Anarchy In The UK and God Save the Queen. Now, I’m sure you Atomsplitters can figure out the inspiration behind him!

The Mysterious Explorations Of Jasper Morello

The other day I came across a wonderful animation called The Mysterious Explorations Of Jasper Morello on You Tube. It’s a 30 minute Victorian steam punk type story featuring airships and exotic travels. Upon further research I found a whole site dedicated to this awesomeness including a blog set up like a newspaper in Jasper Morello’s universe. The site also sells DVD’s of the animation but the DVD’s are only available in New Zealand, Australia, and associated islands right now. Hopefully that will change and they’ll be available in the U.S. especially since, according to the site there will be an additional animations of Jasper Morello’s adventures and I want to see them all and in particular Jasper Morello And The Ghosts Of Alto Mea.

Atomsplit Stills # 7

So the last Atomsplit Still I put up was one with a sort of Sky line of a stripped down Times Square. Here it is with the other two layers. The middle layer is the band sitting behind a raised table table giving a press conference. The front layer is a group of reporters asking questions. The redness of the table should draw your eye to the bad and make you forget about the dreary cityscape in the background because after all it is just a background and we should be focusing on Atomsplit and the awesome things they’re saying because this press conference will be the prelude to the pulse pounding double length final episode of the first series.

Scene # 5

This basement scene is Atomsplit’s practice area. It’s full of old junk and band equipment. This scene figures into the animation more than once and it will continue to be used in the comic strip as well. It was a fun scene to draw and I think it came out looking pretty good.

Forget The Film

I forgot how I heard about Forget The Film, Watch The Titles, but that doesn’t matter. What matters is Forget The Film, Watch The Titles is an awesome blog dedicated to movie titles and credits. If you haven’t seen Forget The Film, Watch The Titles you should head over there and watch some of the titles. Who knows you might find a new movie or TV show that you never knew about before like I did.
