Last night I saw Three Days Grace, Seether, Chevelle, and some local boys call Kadense last night. However, due things that we couldn’t help, but never the less also being a super fun trip getting there we got there late and saw the last of Chevelle and totally missed Kadense, but we got to see all of Seether and all of Three Days Grace and that’s fine because that was the main thing. Seether came on before Three Days Grace and they played most of their good songs and Wham’s Careless Whisper and ended the set with my favorite Seether song, Remedy where they threw in at least three different guitar solos!!! Then Three Days Grace came on and put on a super show. They played some songs from the new record. My favorite was The Good Life. My other favorites they played were I Hate Everything About You, and they closed their set with my other favorite Animal I Have Become. At one point they laid down some skull crushing bass work, but I forgot what tune that was on, but it was awesome. They also made Phil Collins song In The Air Tonight totally awesome. But the sickest thing was the drum solo that lasted for I don’t know how long, but was totally insane and I’m sure made Bonzo smile down from Heaven due to it’s sheer awesomeness. Then they iced that cake with fireballs all around!!! All in all it was one of the funnest days I ever had. I don’t think I’ll ever forget it. I could probably only add to it when I see them again in a year or two.
Lick It Up!!!
Yesterday was 666 posts on the old Atomsplit site Atomsplitters that’s a ghoulishly exciting factoid, but entirely not the point of today’s post. The point of today’s post is Taylor Swift’s Fame comic from Bluewater Productions is coming out in July. I’ll be interested to read the Taylor Swift story up until the present. I’m not the biggest Taylor Swift fan in the world, but she’s got some good tunes like You Belong With Me, Love Story, and my favorite Whit Horse. One of the things I like most about her is how she was out hitting the streets passing out her demos when she was 11 years old and getting no interest. That can break you down, but it didn’t break her down and now she’s on fire. That’s pretty awesome how tenacity pays off sometimes. But the thing I like most of all about Taylor Swift is the prank she pulled on Keith Urban when her whole band came out dressed as KISS and while Urban was playing I want To Kiss a girl. Swift was Ace Frehley and it was totally awesome!!! Check it out!
I waited a long time for Airbourne’s No Guts No Glory and it’s finally here! I knew the first thing I was going to do on April 22md 2010 was download it and start today off right and I did! I’ve talked about Airbourne in the past so all I need to say this time is if you like Rock “N” Roll you should have this by the end of the day. The stand out songs on No Guts No Glory are all of them. No, I’m only half kidding the ones I like so far are No Way But The Hard Way, White Line Fever, and Armed & Dangerous, but they’re all good just like on Runnin’ Wild. I didn’t know Airbourne was going to be in town on the 4th, but I’m going to see Three Days Grace on the 5th and I can’t afford the time to see two shows in one week. I’ll catch them when they come back through town though. In the mean time I’ll just listen to the recording of No Guts No Glory songs until i hear them live.
Boing Boing has found the earliest known Led Zeppelin recording on You Tube. Maybe the first ever! Who knows? Oh wait Zeppelin would know. Anyway, it’s pretty raw, but cool at the same time. It’s from Spokane Washington a month before Zep One came out. Anyway, there’s no video, just a picture so you can listen to it while you work.
If you’re stumbling across this page for the first time you’re probably wondering what is Atomsplit all about. Well, Atomsplit is a cartoon, comic strip, game, and general multimedia story about an indie rock band who comes into contact with and old school rocker named Bobby Vandertramp who trains the young indie rockers to create and control the Divine Sound, a sound so strong and powerful it can do anything. However, there are some folks who don’t want Atomsplit to have access to such a powerful sound, namely, the recording corporation and they’re representative Mr. Peevil. It’s up to Atomsplit to perfect the Divine Sound and share it with the world while at the same time staying one step ahead of the music companies and Mr. Peevil.
It’s hard to imagine the logistics it would take to make a Virtual Choir come to life, but somehow Eric Whitacre pulled it off. The Virtual Choir is a 185 volunteer member choir put together over You Tube. First he got people to video audition. Then once he picked the singers he wanted he got them to re-sing the song with a video of him conducting the song which was Lux Aurumque. Finally, he put all of the videos of the singers and the video of him conducting together into the Virtual Choir! The whole process is really pretty amazing. You can read more about it at Mental Floss or see the video right here.
Code Organ is a sweet site that plays a tune according to the content of a website that I found while looking at Download Squad the other day.. All you have to do is put in the address of the site, let code Organ analyze the content, and then listen to the tune. Of course I tried www.atomsplit.com. It turned out to be a catchy, bassy, number. Then I looked down at the comments one person said check You Tube because it was a pretty awesome one so I did it and it crashed my Firefox!!! Oh well, I didn’t try it again, but atomsplit.com worked for me. Check it out with atomsplit.com too or your own site or blog be cause it’s pretty neat!
